Goals
By the end of this topic, you should be able to:
- Say why we don’t run many t-tests
- Split variability into between and within groups
- Fill in an ANOVA table and read F
- Use a post hoc test to find which groups differ
Reading
- Sections 12-1 to 12-4 and 12-6, plus the start of 12-5 on why we need post hoc tests. Skip Tukey’s and Scheffé’s tests (Examples 12.5 and 12.6).
NoteThe book and our slides
- The book: writes the effect size as η². Our slides: write η̂², because it’s an estimate.
